Volunteer
NCSCE initiatives have benefitted greatly from the generosity of educators, administrators, students, and others who have contributed their time and expertise to help advance projects, develop materials, write grants, and plan symposia. Many members of our senior leadership teams are volunteers, as are the majority of people who work on regional and local initiatives.
If you would like to contribute to the Center, SENCER, or GLISTEN as a volunteer, please contact our Washington office to discuss your ideas.
Donate Financially
The National Center for Science and Civic Engagement endeavors to provide quality programs and resources throughout the year that support the improvement of education. We rely on grants to fund the majority of our activities, but find often that it is not possible to extend support to students and international colleagues to participate in our events. These individuals, who provide invaluable contributions to our activities and enrich the content of both the Center’s work and on-campus projects, have expressed increased interest in participating in Center events and connecting with peers. However, they are often in the most need of financial support to attend these symposia.
Since the first SENCER Summer Institute in 2001, several international collaborations have emerged from symposia where educators from other countries have been present. Examples include collaborations between Duke University and (Kenyan school), and a joint project between Meredith College, University of South Carolina Sumter, North Carolina Wesleyan College and (school). International SENCER projects have developed in countries including South Africa, the Republic of Georgia, and Armenia.
Students, whose participation has increased in all programs and most notably in the Washington Symposium, provide a valuable perspective on the development of innovative curricula for K-12, undergraduate, and pre-service teacher education. Their input is critical to the continued improvement of all levels of education, and we would like to be able to support participation in our faculty development events for all interested students.
We welcome donations made by individuals or institutions. Your contribution will be used to support not only student and international participation in Center events, but also innovative projects in the early stages of development. Scholarships to students and international educators will be awarded to attend NCSCE events, including SENCER Summer Institutes, the Washington Symposium and Capitol Hill Poster Session, and regional symposia.
How to contribute
To make a tax deductible donation to support the work of NCSCE, please make your check payable to Harrisburg University and note “NCSCE support” on the memo line. NCSCE is a research center at HU, a private, not-for-profit university. Your donation will only be tax deductible if written in this manner. We will mail you a receipt when your donation arrives at the NCSCE office (you may also request an email or fax copy). Please send your donation to:
